Who’s in Charge Here?
Izzy Design is mostly a one woman operation run by me, Janet, a mom of two who spends the bulk of my work days developing, managing and/or maintaining other people’s web sites and designing wonderful things. The rest of my time is spent shuttling my kids to sports, Scouts and playdates and folding ridiculous amounts of laundry.
I have a Bachelors degree in communications with a minor in psychology and before I opted out of the traditional 9-5 workplace for work-at-home motherhood, I had jobs in which I wore clothes that did not in any way resemble pajamas or yoga pants, had actual offices with doors and water views and I’ve even had underlings and minions.
My colorful background has included (in no particular order) several professional graphic and web design gigs, a couple years of teaching Photoshop and graphic design to perpetually tardy college students and a really cool IT job with a Fortune 500 company that evaporated when the tech bubble burst.
These days, I run my own show and I’m quite happy…even without the minions and water views
How I Roll
My personal preferences in design lean toward the minimalist—in my mind, less is always more.
But that’s me—that’s how I roll.
You? Well, you might like something different, and that’s totally cool.
My primary job as your designer is to make your vision a reality while incorporating solid design principles.
Balance, harmony, proportion, unity, movement…these are my stock and trade and are always on my mind when I’m working on visually communicating your message.
But at the end of the day, you have to be happy and that? Is the most important principle of all.
